From basket weaving in college to bike weaving on the Pennsylvania trails THE WEAVERS just keep on weaving. In late October of last year, just before the fall foliage fell, Director James Bartolomeo teamed for a second time with his Red Tettemer comrades on a sequel to this popular web film. This time the biking group has taken a meditative cabin retreat outside of Philadelphia to honor a lost member. Through the winding odyssey a siren’s call may threaten the weaving way of life. Interlaced with this shoot was another PA Tourism web series, Peter Arthur, set to premiere in early spring.

Web video snacking has gone from Chocolate Chunk to Milano. For the second year in a row, Director James Bartolomeo has partnered with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to create a series of web films designed to make composers like Copland, Tchaikovsky and Bernstein more accessible to a younger generation of concert-goers. The project comprises 12 short documentary style films featuring the conductor of the BSO, Marin Alsop. The films juxtapose a featured symphony and related visual elements with Marin’s dissection of the music’s historic and narrative context. Last year’s web film series brought a new level of awareness to classical music as a whole, and the BSO saw a major increase in ticket sales as measured by website click-thrus. The web films can be viewed right now on the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra website. Mmm…delicious!

A fat man riding a bike, a loquacious pioneer on a treadmill, man vs. analog tv, and a talking mermaid with attitude — my, it’s been an active summer!
Director James Bartolomeo partnered with our friends at Red Tettemer, Philadelphia to spit-ball a narrative about a cycling group that finds joy in the art of ‘weaving’ or zigzagging through the glorious Pennsylvania countryside. “Anybody can ride a bike in a straight line.” states the portly leader of the group, Todd. Stay tuned for a sequel this fall.
The summer started with a bang for Comcast that poises an average guy against a 1950s era analog TV. The goal is to educate the public about the technical ramifications of the switch to digital broadcast scheduled for next February, 09. The question is, what will life be like without antennas?
Purple is the name, and color, of a new anti-oxident drink sold nationally at GNC stores. Made from the Acai berry, the drink manages to balance health and deliciousness. Protagonist created not 1 but 2 independent TV campaigns for the brand. The first involved building a confessional booth and placing it in Love Park, Philadelphia, with the hope that passersby would confess sins against their bodies. Surprising to hear just how many folks eat fast food on a daily basis. The second campaign followed a visionary character called Treadmill Guy as he attempted to become the first man to cross the country on…a treadmill. Such a feat could only be possible with the healthful goodness of Purple, and the four cronies pushing the treadmill cart.
The Downtown Norfolk Committee reanimated a mermaid statue (the city’s mascot) and asked her to give us a walking tour of the town. What we learned from the experience is that Norfolk has some outstanding restaurants, and that mermaid statues come in only one size — heavy.
In August we found ourselves in Richmond once again, working with dear friend and mega-talented writer, Andy Ellis. He chose Jim to help bring to life a very personal story of his own recovery from a stroke just 2 years ago. Upon struggling through his first steps in the physical therapy room, he heard applause coming from the hallway and looked up to see the janitors applauding this great accomplishment.
There are more stories to tell and plenty of work to show from a busy season. Please check out our site and give a shout to tell us what you think.

Director James Bartolomeo recently teamed with his pals at Red Tettemer on a new campaign for Pennsylvania State Tourism. The project comprises a 5 minute web film, a :60 and a :30 telling the dubious story of a cycling group calling themselves The Weavers. “Anybody can just ride in a straight line,” says Todd, the loquacious leader of The Weavers, when asked about the current standings of the Tour de France…
